1. Booking.
a. Please complete and sign the booking form and pay your £150/person non-refundable deposit. On receipt we will process your booking and issue booking confirmation invoice within 7 days. The balance of your holiday must be paid in full no later than 8 weeks before the start of your holiday. No further reminder is sent. If the balance is not received by the due date, we may treat the booking as cancelled. If you book a tour within the balance due period, you must pay the full tour price at the time of booking.

b. We can accept payment by any of the following methods
i. Sterling cheque or bank draft made payable to Northwestwalks
ii. Credit/debit card (note there is a 2% charge for payment by credit card).
Payments are not accepted in foreign currency.

2. Trust Fund.
Northwestwalks complies with EC Tour Operator legislation. A Trust Fund operates with the purpose of serving the business and protecting your payments, this means that in the unlikely event that Northwestwalks become insolvent your money will be refunded in full.

3. Cancellation and alteration.
a. Cancellation by you
i. All cancellations must be in writing (letter or Fax) and be signed by the person who made the booking.
ii. Should you cancel your holiday cancellation charges will be levied on the following sliding scale.
More than 42 days before departure your full deposit.
41-31 days before departure - 50% of the total price of your holiday.
30-15 days before departure - 80% of the total price of your holiday.
Less than 14 days before departure - 100% of the total price of your holiday.

b. Cancellation by us
We will do everything in our power not to cancel your walking holiday or baggage transfer.However in the unlikely event that we do have to cancel, your deposit and balance will be refunded to you.

c. Alterations
If you wish to change your booking prior to your final balance payment date we will do the utmost to accommodate your request, subject to a £25/person administration charge.Any alterations after your balance payment date may also be subject to the cancellation charges specified in 3a.

4. Personal holiday insurance.
You are required to take out Personal holiday insurance to cover illness, injury, personal belongings and cancellation.

5. Accommodation.
We do not own or manage any of the accommodation that is booked for your holiday, neither are the proprietors employees or agents of Northwestwalks.

6. Luggage transfer
For our ‘Inn to Inn’/trail walking holidays Northwestwalks or an appointed agent will move your luggage between overnight accommodation. Your luggage allowances are as follows
a. Coast to Coast walking holiday one bag/person weighing not more than 20kg (44lbs), additional bags can be transferred at a supplement of £6/bag/day.
b. All other walking holidays one bag/person weighing not more than 14kg (31lbs), additional bags can be transferred at a supplement of £6/bag/day.


7. Participation.
Guided Walks Only - All reasonable precautions will be taken to ensure your safety and Clients agree to abide by the decisions of the Guide. We reserve the right to change walks or itineraries in the light of bad weather or hazardous conditions or other safety reasons. Northwestwalks cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage to property or injury or death resulting from Force Majeure or circumstances beyond our control. Northwestwalks will only be liable for loss or damage caused by negligence or omissions of Northwestwalks.
Self Guided and Guided Walks - As participants in hill walking/trekking/hiking, etc you are aware, or reminded, that these activities have a danger of personal injury or death and that you accept these risks and are responsible for your own actions and involvement.

8. Fitness/Equipment/Clothing. Before embarking on your walking holiday you should be physically fit enough to cope with the distances and terrain, and suitably equipped and clothed to meet your challenge.

9. Conduct.
Northwestwalks reserve the unconditional right to end your holiday if your conduct or that of any member of your party in our opinion causes undue distress, damage, annoyance to other guests, employees, accommodation or to any third party. Cancellation charges of 100% will apply in these circumstances. In the case of damage you will be liable for any damage caused, together with any legal costs we incur in pursuing the claim.

10. Complaint.
In the event of a complaint please notify us immediately so that steps can be taken to try and rectify the problem.

11. Persons under the age of 18.
We cannot accept bookings for any person under the age of 18 unaccompanied by a Parent or Guardian.

12. Proprietor
Northwestwalks is the trading name of Dean Halsall.
