St Oswald’s Way is a 97 mile (156km) route, exploring some of the finest landscapes and fascinating history of Northumberland. From Holy Island (Lindisfarne) off the Northumberland coast, St. Oswald's Way heads south and follows the stunning Northumberland coast, before turning inland across beautiful countryside to Heavenfield and Hadrian's Wall.

The route links some of the places associated with St. Oswald, the King of Northumbria in the early 7th Century, who played a major part in bringing Christianity to his people. Highlights of St Oswald’s Way include the Lindisfarne priory and castle, St Cuthbert’s Cave, sandy beaches, bird life, Warkworth Castle and the church of St Oswald at Heavenfield.

Accommodation
Accommodation is provided in carefully selected walker friendly B&Bs, Guest Houses, small Hotels and Inns. All rooms are ensuite or have private facilities.

Single occupancy supplement
There are very few single rooms along the route and therefore the accommodation owners generally allocate a double or twin room for single occupancy. We can accommodate one single occupancy per booking for the average supplement of £25 per night. If you require additional single occupancy rooms, they will be charged at the extra cost incurred. This can be up to full double/twin room rate.

Meals
Breakfast is included. Packed lunches can be purchased from your overnight accommodation or local convenience stores. Evening meals can be purchased in pubs and in overnight accommodation when a pub is not available.

Luggage transfer
For the duration of the walk your luggage is transferred between overnight accommodation by luggage transfer service, so all you need is a day rucksack with its contents

The nearest train station to Holy Island is at Berwick-upon-Tweed. Bus services operate from Beal, Holy Island Rd End which is 5 miles from Holy Island. A limited minibus service operates from Holy Island to Beal. Alternative transport is by local taxi service. Please note you will need to plan your travel times around the tide timetable and causeway open times, available at Holy Island crossing times

Approximate train journey times from Edinburgh to Berwick-upon-Tweed 40 minutes.
